Maruti Suzuki has introduced the updated Grand Vitara Sigma 2025, its base variant in the popular mid-size SUV lineup. The model now comes with six airbags as standard across all trims, alongside subtle design updates. However, certain features have been removed, even as the price sees an upward revision.
Pricing and Market Position
The Maruti Grand Vitara Sigma 2025 is priced at ₹11,42,000 (ex-showroom), marking an increase of approximately ₹23,000 compared to the previous version. The model continues to target value-conscious SUV buyers seeking a robust package with strong safety credentials.
Exterior Design and Dimensions
While the front profile remains visually unchanged — with a chrome-accented grille, glossy black finish, LED DRLs, projector-type headlamps with yellow beams, and silver skid plates — there are notable updates on the sides:
- ORVMs now finished in glossy black (earlier body-coloured)
- B-pillars now body-coloured instead of matte black
- Door handles in black plastic finish instead of body-coloured
- Electric folding for mirrors removed; only electric adjustment is offered
Dimensions remain unchanged:
- Length: 4,345 mm
- Width: 1,795 mm
- Height: 1,645 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,600 mm
- Ground Clearance: 210 mm
The SUV rides on 17-inch steel rims (215/60 R17 tyres) with wheel covers provided separately. Both front and rear disc brakes remain standard.
Rear Profile and Boot Space Updates
At the rear, the SUV continues to offer LED tail lamps similar to the top variant, a high-mounted stop lamp, rear defogger, silver skid plates, and four parking sensors. A key change is the removal of the spare wheel — replaced by a tyre inflator kit and repair chemical for temporary fixes.
The boot capacity remains generous, with a 60:40 split-folding rear seat and provision for a parcel tray (available as an accessory).
Interior and Cabin Features
Inside, the dual-tone fabric upholstery, adjustable headrests, and two-step reclining rear seats are retained, along with rear AC vents and ISOFIX child seat anchors. However, several cost-cutting measures are evident:
- Removed Features:
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Steering-mounted audio controls
- Speakers (previously included even without a music system)
- Electric folding mirrors
- Vanity mirror on the passenger sun visor
The dashboard still houses an automatic climate control system, push-button start/stop, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, and a 5-speed manual transmission. The center console has space for an aftermarket infotainment system.
Safety Enhancements
The most significant upgrade is the inclusion of six airbags as standard, enhancing occupant protection. The Maruti Grand Vitara Sigma 2025 variant also retains ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, and a three-point seat belt for all passengers.
Engine and Performance
The Maruti Grand Vitara Sigma 2025 continues to be powered by the 1.5-litre K15 four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 102 BHP and 139 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 19 km/l.
Verdict of Maruti Grand Vitara Sigma 2025
The Maruti Grand Vitara Sigma 2025 offers enhanced safety with six airbags and retains much of its spaciousness, ride quality, and fuel efficiency. However, the removal of convenience features such as a height-adjustable driver seat, steering controls, and a spare wheel may deter some buyers. For safety-focused customers seeking an affordable entry point into the Grand Vitara lineup, the Sigma variant remains a competitive choice.
